Two form 4 students were recently arrested and jailed for robbery.
The two were part of a four men gang that appeared before Kwekwe magistrate Florence Nago facing charges of robbery.
The quartert was charged with unlawfully entering and stealings various items at Runyararo Complex, Torwood.
Edson Chisvo (18), Knowledge Moyo (20), Kudzaishe Benhu (17) and Samson Maringa (21) allegedly robbed shops at Runyararo Complex in Torwood on 28 January 2020.
Among the group the two form four pupils pleaded guilty while the other two Benhu and Moyo denied the allegations claiming they were not around when the robbery took place.
Chisvo and Maringa pleaded guilty and asked the courts to be lenient with them since they are due to sit for their Zimsec Ordinary Level exams in October.
The magistrate, however, in sentencing Chisvo and Maringa considered the rise in cases of robbery using machetes sentenced them to 36 months imprisonment and threw their plea for a fine out.
The other two’s case is still ongoing as they denied taking part in the robbery.
It is alleged that the gang went to the complex around 2000hrs opened the doors of the shops using machetes and arrows where they stole goods worth $5000.
Goods stolen included tracksuits, hats, socks, t-shirts, jean trousers, formal trousers, nokia batteries and petrol.
Nothing was recovered.
