Chibs United carried the day at a Zhombe soccer tournament after thrashing all other teams at Mushange Ground, Zhombe recently.
The tournament was hosted by Zeto F.C who were competing in the Division 2 league last year and the tournament consists of all the Zhombe based teams which are ZRP F.C, Chibs United, Mugandani F.C and Zeto F.C.
The team which is under the guidance of Brian Chibaya, the gaffer who had made headlines with Chibs last year was cut above the rest. The team played a total games of two and won all the two matches.
In the first match, the team played against ZRP Zhombe whom they thrashed 6-l after they had once played last week and the game ended on a stalemate 0-0 at Mushange Ground in Zhombe.
The team met Mugandani in their second game and the team was dismissed 1-0 through a goal from Munashe Gomo who is the Chibs United midfielder.
In an interview with the Midlands Observer, Brian Chibaya who is the owner of the club said that the team is now strong compared to the last team that we had and most of the players that we now have are experienced in football.
He further explained that the matches were going to be tight for them because they once played with ZRP and the match ended at a stalemate but we managed to out match them during the tournament.
“The hosts didn’t play against Chibs United and we don’t know what was their reason for not playing with us since they thought that their team was the best,” said Chibaya.
“Our hope as a club is to occupy the top spot and win the Midlands Division 2 league since the team has now improved and seems to be strong,’’ he said.
