Machete and gang attacks have taken centre stage in hove, Chief Samambwa area, Zhombe leaving many maimed.
A man from the area, Gift Phiri appeared in court facing a murder and attempted murder charge.
Phiri is said to have committed murder on the 25th of January 2019 in Zhombe with his colleagues who are currently on the run.
He is said to have killed Thabani Dube in a gruesome manner using machetes and axes thus resulting in the victim dying on his way to hospital making this the first count the accused faced.
The second count, attempted murder allegedly took place on the same day when he attacked Joseph Chiundura at Empress Mine using machetes and axes thus pouncing on the victim’s head repeatedly. Fortunately, the victim managed to survive as he was able to receive treatment in Harare.
Phiri pleaded guilty to all offences.
He was remanded in custody to the 15th of March 2019.
