Tongogara FC has maintained dominance in ZIFA Central Region after cruising past FC Platinum U19, 2-0 at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane.
The army side has dislodged Joel Lapahla side Tel One from the perch after going on a winning spree which saw them take the lead on goal difference over the Gweru based side.
There is a serious fight for the top post with three games left to the season end.
Scintillating Tel One blitzed past FC Lesaffre 4-1 away from home to mount pressure on Tongogara.
Lupahla’s charges have been a marvel to watch.
Prison side Whawha FC has regained winning ways after picking maximum points away from home at the expense of MSU FC.
Luke Petros’s troops have been impressive for the better part of the season.
Whawha however has stumbled along the way slip up which has been capitalised by Tongogara and Tel One who are now on 1st and 2nd positions respectively.
Lupahla though excited is still exercising caution.
“I am really pleased with how the boys have been playing considering that we are still a small team in the mix of big teams in the region but we are pleased with the outcome at the end of the season,” he said.
Luke Petros was coy on his team’s chances of clinching the promotion place after they surrendered the lead they kept for a time.
“A few games are still to be played let’s see what happens,” he said.
Whawha will entertain relegation threatened Lesaffre while Tel One is set to host Platinum U19 at Wilson Fields.
Title favourites Tongogara will square off against Blanket Mine FC at Battlefields as they aim to keep the momentum up on their title challenge.
