Zanu PF Kwekwe Central parliamentary aspirant Energy (Dala) Ncube who recently rolled out a program of assisting people with eye challenges in the constituency and beyond has said the program is not aimed at gaining political milage.

Ncube is battling to gain control of representing Zanu PF  Kwekwe Central Constituency in the coming by elections. He is battling it out with 2018 losing parliamentary candidate Kandross Mugabe.

Internal polls to elect a party representative had to be aborted after the process turned chaotic following bouts of violence at the party’s District Offices.

Kwekwe seat fell vacant following the death of area legislator Masango Matambanadzo in July this year.

Dala has scoffed at his political foes in what has been interpreted as a political gimmick after rolling out the eye treatment programme which had benefited an estimated 2000 from Kwekwe and beyond.

“This program is aimed at helping everyone regardless of political affiliation, age groups ethnicity or race. Everyone who will be able to come at the place to see the doctor is going to get the rightful treatment for free,’’ the youthful politician said in an interview.

He explained what motivated his action.

“Many people came to my office looking for assistance to get their eyes checked, that is when it struck me that many people were facing eyesight challenges. I then decided to roll out the programme so that people get their eyes checked for free. So, I talked to the doctors and they agreed to come,” said Ncube.
“Our plan was to end the programme on Tuesday, but it will depend on the turnout. If they keep coming, we might increase the number of days,” he said

Gogo Nzobo (71) from Mbizo 1 expressed her appreciation of the gesture.
“I really appreciate how I received treatment on my eyes. I was really having challenges when it came to my eyes but I managed to receive treatment. I really have to thank Dhala for the kind gesture.  He is the first to show us this kind of love especially the elderly people like us,” she said.

Another beneficiary  66 year old woman from Amaveni Mai Mutesva was elated.”I have to thank Dhala as I have managed to get spectacles after suffering with eye challenges for a long time,” she said.
