Kwekwe City Council has used $3 million to give the city a facelift.
Kwekwe Town Clerk Lucia Mkandla speaking during the council’s engagement with residents recently used donations to the tune of $3 million from various corporates to give the city a new look.
Council has since demolished illegal structures within the city.
While in Central Kwekwe there have been repainting of markings and signages and maintainance of well manicured grounds amongst others.
“We are doing our best in the circumstances. Council is not adequately resourced, but with the support from the community we will continue with the standards of sprucing up the CBD that has been done to the tune of $3 million,” she said.
Mkandla explained that council paid for fuel only.
“Council only paid for fuel but the rest came from support from the corporate. This is our city, we have to engage on the ambiance of the city. We must all play our part,” she said.
