Former Kwekwe High School handball player commits suicide

A former Kwekwe High School handball player has committed suicide.Reasons are not yet clear on why 22 year old Brent Ruchike decided to end his life in Harare. 

Speaking to the Midlands Observer , Brent’s Mother Alice Witcho was shocked by her son’s death.

“I do not understand why he thought of taking his life , he was never complaining of any problems when i last spoke to him and i suspect  spiritual forces haunted my son because he had his upkeep from me up to  date,” she said.

Zimbabwe Handball National team coach Farai Gwisai described the passing on of his former handball star as tragic. 
“I am greatly shocked with the passing on of one of my boys and the Midlands board has lost a one time gold medalist who was very devoted to the sport , ” he said .

Gwisai attested that he  introduced the game to Ruchike  in 2017 and groomed him for a certain position as a pivot and being the first Midlands team to win Gold in Manicaland competitions.
“I knew Brent while he was learning at Kwekwe High and introduced the sport to him  winning gold in all age groups at the National Youth games held in Mutare that same year, ” he said .
