Mukombwe eyes CSL glory

By Sport Reporter Vhumbachikwe head coach Gatsi Mukombwe has promised fireworks once the football season resumes as he is confident that his side has serious chances of Premier Soccer League promotion.

Mukombwe who is in his second year in charge of Vhumbachikwe has saluted the teams’ supporters for being a moral booster.
“I am still the head coach of Vumbachikwe. This is my second year in charge of this team. As Vumbachikwe FC we have a very strong base of supporters who are very much interested in seeing their team competing against the best in Zimbabwe. They have seen a transformed side last year and they are expecting more fireworks from the team,” he said.

Mukombwe said the mining team has corrected its mistakes and is raring to go once the league kick starts. Football activities were suspended after government imposed lockdown restrictions to curb the spread of coronavirus in the country.

” We have a very big chance of winning the CSL championship. We have seen where we faltered last season and we tried to work upon those areas. We are in the race for sure,” he said.

He said that fans must expect some few  changes to the team. “I have the bulk of my last season team save for the few whom we offloaded. We added a few guys for back up in some crucial areas,” he said.
Turning to the impact of Covid-19 on football he said it has really affected the teams.

“Covid -19 has impacted negatively on our team. We had the best of preparations but all have gone to waste. We are not used to spend seven months without football. This is my first time in my life. Finance wise the pandemic has made football poor,” he said.
