The Zanu PF Midlands provincial structure is geared up for the District Coordinating Committee elections the Midlands Observer reports.
Speaking to this publication in an interview provincial chairperson Daniel Mackenzie Ncube said the province is fully prepared for elections.
“We welcome the reintroduction of DCC as a substantive structure within the revolutionary party. Zanu PF keeps reinventing itself in order to make it relevant to the masses,” Ncube said. He expressed satisfaction with the preparations.
“As the Midlands Province we are fully prepared for the DCC elections. We appeal to our cadres to observe the tenets if the party as they campaign for positions,” he said.
Ncube also urged party faithfuls to desist from candidate imposition.
“The leadership in whatever level should also be alive to the repeated advice of His Excellency Cde E D Mnangagwa that there should be no imposition. The will of the people should be respected,” he said.
Meanwhile, Zanu PF Political Commissar Victor Matemadanda in a circular gleaned by this publication urged provinces which are yet to finalise the DCC process to do so in earnest.
“This circular serves to inform all Provinces that the 343 Session of the Politburo resolved that DCC Structures be established in all the remaining Provinces i.e. a. Manicaland b. Mashonaland Central c. Mashonaland East d. Mashonaland West e. Masvingo f. Matabeleland South g. Matabeleland North h. Midlands 2, ” Matemadanda said.
According to procedures the, “Provincial Executive Council will be assigned to collect CVs from all the interested candidates who should indicate clearly the position they would want to contest.Meanwhile, the Security Department will conduct all the vetting and submit the final list to the Commissariat.”
According to Matemadanda the Administration and Finance Department will provide all the necessary logistics and will facilitate the printing of the ballot papers for the successful contestants. The administration is also mandated to conduct elections for the purpose of transparency, accountability and in line with the party constitution, rules and regulations for conducting elections, the following should be taken into consideration; “There shall be teams drawn from provinces to act as election supervisors and polling officers. “The selected provinces will be assigned to conduct elections in designated provinces.
“The Electoral College for the DCCs will constitute members of the District Executives who must appear in the district registers. Therefore, this Circular serves as authority for party districts to fill in all vacant posts following the party Constitution,” the circular read.
“For the purpose of the election, party districts will be required to sit in groups of 50 people at the district centre and to observe social distancing. e. Ballot papers will be distributed to the group of 50 people and party district members will cast their votes and drop them in the indicated boxes for each post.
“Any evidence of vote buying including predetermine lists will result in the disqualification of the contestant.”
