Former Zanu PF Kwekwe Councillor Reason Nyamadzawo is set to be buried at Fitchelea Cemetery on Thursday.
Nyamadzawo 76 died on Tuesday at Topomas Private Hospital in Central Kwekwe after succumbing to sugar diabetes.
Kudzai Nyamadzawo the son to the deceased confirmed the development to this publication.
“We are now prepared to bury our dad at Fitchelea Cemetry in Kwekwe tomorrow at 11am. That’s where our hero is going to be laid to rest,” Kudzai said.
The Zanu PF Midlands Province has recommended for the conferment of the liberation war hero status to Nyamadzawo.
“We have lost a strong cadre, a pillar in the community whp served as a Councillor. He was the District Vice Chairperson, a father figure who was very approachable.
“As an administrative district, we have written to the province, were we made a request and a recommendation for the deceased to be conferred with a liberation war hero status. We are currently awaiting a response from the national executive for the request we have made,” Zanu PF Midlands provincial spokesperson Cornelious Mupereri said.
