The teams are playing two T20 games per day and take a one day break after every match day. Rhinos are using local players who don’t have a chance to play in the franchise team as the boys needs some game time and also have a chance to exhibit their skills to the Rhinos coaches and selectors. On the second match day Nigerian ambassodor to Zimbabwe Janet Bessong Odeka paid a courtesy visit to watch the Nigerian team in action. Speaking to Observer sport ambassodor Odeka was happy with the team’s perfomance and cooperation being given by (Midwest Rhinos) Zimbabwe. “Nigeria is known as a football nation and other aspects of sport but currently we are doing well in cricket where we are not known as a big team like we are in football. “The last team (nigeria u19) that was here in Harare trained and exchanged ideas with the coaches here went to Namibia they won, beat all other teams there( u19 qualifiers).“We are very proud of that i think we are coming up in cricket will capture the world very soon”,said Odeka.Kwekwe Mayor cllr Angelina Kasipo also attended the matches on day two and welcomed the Naija boys to the city Kwekwe.Ambassodor Janet Bessong Odeka was impressed with play displayed by the naija boys although they lost both their games as well as the day one games.“From what i saw today there are doing well but the zimbabwe team (rhinos) is tough but there are competing with them ,i see they will do very well when they get to Uganda.“We are learning so much from ( rhinos) zimbabwe cricket ,Zimbabwe is well known as nation that does well in cricket i’m happy with the cooperation and i hope it goes further than this will get more and more training from here”,she said.Nigeria senior men cricket team manager Kome Agodo was impressed with his boys’s show in the four games they have played so far.“ we came to Zimbabwe to learn we should have started this a long time ago but the process is on now. We’ve been in contact with Rhinos general manager Admire Marodza putting things in place so that we came here regulary ,we need to come and train here because we don’t have tough wickets in Nigeria while most of international cricket tournaments are being played on tough wickets but we have started to put tough wickets now in Nigeria so we can’t train at home. So we now have a relationship with Rhinos franchise hopefully will begin to use this as our base for training”, he said Agodo said the team have made a lot of improvements from their first game and they are not looking for a win or loss. “We playing 10 training matches looking at the process clearly we are making improvements on first game Rhinos scored 189 we reduced it to 160 on the second game then to 141 on the third which was a tight contest. “ It shows improvements are there it doesn’t matter we win or lose we just want to see them putting to practise what there are being taught “, said Agodo. Nigeria who are an associate side are determined to win the qualifiers in Uganda and make their first appearance at the T20 world cup.
