JAZ empowers sportspersonthem

Junior Achievement Zimbabwe (JAZ) is set to empower local youths in sports through equipping them with entrepreneurial skills.The programe titled Sports for skills and enterprise will cater for youths between the ages of 11 to 25.The one year project is being con­ducted in conjuction with the Minis­try of Youth, Sports and Recreation. Speaking at a stakeholders stra­tegic meeting Jaz Programmes Co­ordinator for Midlands Province Actmore Mudzokora said that the project main objective was to offer business training to the youngsters. “Participants will receive train­ing that develops their understand­ing of business and entrepreneur­ship and build their skills required to establish and manage a business, leveraging the power of sports as a platform,” he said. He said the participants will re­ceive mentorship from local entre­preneurs, corporate professionals, active and athletes. Jaz has so far engaged sportsper­sons around Kwekwe and Redcliff. The organization is taking partici­pants from all sporting disciplines including the once marginalized sports sector like cricket, handball and netball.
