Junior Achievement Zimbabwe (JAZ) is set to empower local youths in sports through equipping them with entrepreneurial skills.The programe titled Sports for skills and enterprise will cater for youths between the ages of 11 to 25.The one year project is being conducted in conjuction with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Recreation. Speaking at a stakeholders strategic meeting Jaz Programmes Coordinator for Midlands Province Actmore Mudzokora said that the project main objective was to offer business training to the youngsters. “Participants will receive training that develops their understanding of business and entrepreneurship and build their skills required to establish and manage a business, leveraging the power of sports as a platform,” he said. He said the participants will receive mentorship from local entrepreneurs, corporate professionals, active and athletes. Jaz has so far engaged sportspersons around Kwekwe and Redcliff. The organization is taking participants from all sporting disciplines including the once marginalized sports sector like cricket, handball and netball.
