Dendera gets booster

A new Moran Base Station was commissioned by the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (Potraz) in Dendera, Chief Malisa area, Zhombe last week.
The booster which comes as a key factor in the developmental agenda was coupled with a donation of printers to local schools and clinic.
The base station connects to all three networks, Econet, NetOne and Telecel.
Speaking at the event, ICT Deputy Minister Jerifan Muswere applauded Potraz for spearheading development in the rural areas which usually lag behind in progress.
“The deployment of ICT infrastructure is a key priority on the nation’s developmental agenda and the realization of vision 2030,” he said. The Director General of Potraz Dr Gift Machengete said as an institution they are working hard to provide universal access to all citizens.
He said at the moment Potraz has managed to set up 14 information centres in both urban and rural areas.
“We are excited about this development as it is in fulfillment of one of our most important mandates, that of universal access. The information centres one in Gokwe and the other in Gweru are offering basic computer skills training aimed at enhancing ICT usage.
Schools that benefited from computer donations include Dendera Secondary and Primary School, Zvibomvu, Mutimutema and KadanyaSecondary schools. Malisa Clinic was given two computers and a printer.
