A Zhombe woman fell victim to two armed robbers last year who pounced on her on her way from Kwekwe to Zhombe.
Margret Fusirai (38) lost her handbag, mobile phone and cash amounting to $1520 bond notes and 2300 Rands
One of the armed robbers, Wisdom Mtunzi (25) appeared before Kwekwe magistrate Story Rushambwa facing two separate charges, his accomplice is still at large.
Mtunzi and his accomplice who is still at large allegedly attacked Fusirai in July last year as she was on her way home from Kwekwe Central Business District.
Fusirai told the court that she had boarded the same kombi with the accused who disembarked with her.
“The accused and his friend also disembarked from the omnibus and started following me before launching an attack when I was about to get to my place,” she said.
She narrated that the accused and his accomplice grabbed her before snatching her handbag and mobile phone and cash amounting to $1520 bond notes and 2300 Rands.
The duo threatened the accused with a knife when she tried to give chase.
The accused pleaded not guilty as he claimed that on the day in question he was in his rural home Zhombe.
In another count Mtunzi is accused of possessing a machete.
He is said to have been arrested by the police at the Kwekwe intercity bus terminus after he was found in possession of rank in position of a blade (machete) which estimated to be 40-60 cm and sharpened on both sides.
He was further remanded in custody to 15 March 2019.
