The possession of deadly weapons has been a major offence with machetes being the norm for mob justice in the Midlands Province’s modern society.
Eight men appeared before Magistrate Story Rushambwa on the 7th of March 2019 facing allegations of possessing deadly weapons that is machetes and axes.
The accused’s, Fanuel Sibanda, Anderson Tshuma, Nkosilathi Gumbo, Washington Gumbo, Sizilwempi Moyo, Gladman Maphosa, Tafadzwa Siziba and Ernest Nkomo from Melrose Farm near Hunters Road in Redcliff say that they got the weapons from their baas (farm owner) who wanted to give them protection from individuals who were said to be partaking in livestock theft in the past weeks before appearing in court.
Meanwhile, the accused were ordered to pay a sum of $50 bail, not interfere with state witness as part of the out of custody order.
Magistrate Rushambwa remanded them to the 26th of March 2019.
