MDC-Alliance MPs for Mbizo Constituency Settlement Chikwinya and his Redcliff counterpart Lloyd Mukapiko have been re-arrested on fresh charges.
Charges preferred on the duo that are held at Kwekwe Central Police station was yet to be read by the time of publication.
The duo was expected to appear in court today for trial after being granted bail last week following their two weeks incarceration in remand prison.
The trial failed to kick off today after Chikwinya was yesterday picked up at his place whilst Mukapiko in the company of his lawyers surrendered himself to the police.
Their lawyer, Wellington Davira of Dube, Gundu and Pamucheche legal firm confirmed that the two lawmakers are held at Kwekwe Central Police station.
“Yes they are at Kwekwe Central and I am yet to be told of the fresh charges levelled against them,” Davira said.
The legislators are facing charges of subverting a constitutional government and inciting public violence.
Last week Bulawayo High Court Judge Justice Martin Makonese granted the du a $300 bail with stringent conditions.
Amongst the conditions the legislators are supposed to continue staying at their given residential addresses.
They are expected to appear in court tomorrow.
