An upcoming Gweru based Zimdancehall artist has bemoaned lack of promoters in the industry.
The chanter Forward Maphosa in the music circles known as Skiddo said lack of promoters has greatly affected the artists.
He has called on the corporate world to chip in and assist the upcoming artists.
“The music industry has grown and as artists we are very much grateful with the development but what continues to worry many of us is lack of promoters. This has been a stumbling block to most of us as we are deprived opportunities to perform,” said Maphosa.
He further said that given the opportunity to move to big city, he will embrace it as it seems that is the only place where one can have the opportunity to make a name and get a good promoter.
“For an artist to be recognised in the music arena, you need to make a name for yourself that is why most of the artists such as DJ Tamuka and Oskid have chosen to relocate to big cities like Harare and Bulawayo where opportunities are unlimited opportunities,” Maphosa added.
Maphosa have since collaborated with popular Gweru artists the likes of Legion and has so far released two albums.
He also said that he is currently working on his single tracks which he hopes will be released before the end of this year.
“I have worked with some of the well known Gweru artists, one of them being Legion. Currently I am working towards my single tracks which i hope will be released before the end of the year,” Maphosa said.
