A notorious Kwekwe criminal has appeared again before the courts after assaulting a Zhombe man with a machete.
The accused Clifford Makombe known as Diva Mapundu has been in and out of the courts answering to various crime charges.
The accused appeared before Kwekwe Magistrate Story Rushambwa facing charges of assaulting a kombi driver and his colleagues.
The state papers indicate that, Clifford Makombe, Patrick Magwenzi and Tawanda Masvosve assaulted Simbarashe Ncube, Nyashadzashe Tapfumanei and Tedias Takavada on the 17th of April 2018 at Saint Georges Business Centre with an axe and machete.
Takavada narrating his ordeal to the court said he was robbed $20 by Magwenzi who was wielding an axe in his hands whilst Makombe was chasing his other two friends.
He added that the accused visited him when he was in his vehicle which was parked at Saint Georges Business Centre and threatened him with an axe.
“The accused forced me to drive the car to Bhamhala Business Centre were l left them and l went back to Saint George ,” said Takavada.
The case was reported to Zhombe police station and the accused was said to be in Zhombe during that time.
“The accused was found at Saint George Business Centre where he was found by the police unconscious in the bush,” said Takavada.
In defence, Makombe said that the police assaulted him on his way to Zhombe Police Station.
“At the court the accuser’s brother confronted me to give me back my $20 but l told them that the case was already in the hands of the courts,” he said.
The complainant told the court that Masvosve was being forced by Magwenzi to collect the money.
Masvosve told the court that he was not part of the gang but he was told by Magwenzi to board the vehicle by force.
The case was postponed to 15 November 2018.
