Armed robbery lands man in court

An Amaveni man was brought before Kwekwe Magistrate Story Rushambwa answering to  charges of robbery.

Tafadzwa Kampiyo (27) is accused of robbing Sarudzai Masukuto of her possession whilst he was wielding an iron bar.

Kampiyo it is reported waylaid Masukuto behind Kushinga Primary School in Amaveni when she was coming from her workplace.

It is the State case that in early October Kampiyo robbed Masukuto while she and her friends were coming from their workplace.

Kampiyo overtook the other three women and when he reached Masukuto he threatened with the bar and demanded her to hand over her hand bag which contained 2 pairs of sandals, high cut ladies tennis, 5 skin tights, $55 and an Alcatel mobile tablet cellphone.

Kampiyo’s legal representative team said on the day in question the accused was waiting for his step mother to return from South Africa.

“He spent the whole day at his home on the day in question,” said defence lawyer Masango.

Two witnesses however pinned him to the crime.

The accused and his representative were given time to gather evidence to defend their case until the 9th of November 2018 when trial continues.
