The Gokwe based team Nembudziya has shaken off set back in the Midlands Province Division 2B occupying the second place and getting in the race for promotion in the Central Region Division 1. The team has suffered a lot after they had an accident coming from a league match against BM Academy, Zisco Club recently.
The team has been playing well since they were involved in a lorry accident losing three best players.
In an interview with The Midlands Observer, Amos Bishi who is the assistant coach at the club said the accident motivated them to be on the second position in the league and managed to sign new players who are performing well at the club in away and home games.
“The players who remained at the team are playing for the departed ones and the community is very happy with the performance of the players,” he said.
The club which is based in Gokwe is being sponsored by the community and when the accident occurred they were in second position and they are now on second position winning matches against Zhombe East and Network.
After the accident the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) gave Nembudziya some home matches which they took advantage of and they managed to gain some points taking advantage of home matches.
“The team has now gained strength and winning momentum for them to maintain the second position in the league and also give pressure to the top leaders Dendairy,” said Bishi.
Meanwhile, Nembudziya managed to gain six points from BM Academy and Kands who didn’t travel to Nembudziya.
Petros Phiri who is in the Zifa board said the team which is on top on the league has an automatic ticket in the Central Region League (CSL) and if Nembudziya manages to maintain their winning form can be part of the CSL.
